Above are many of the major developments under construction in or near Clarksburg. Please note that a few developments are not listed, and listings may not be completely accurate. If you are planning to buy a home in Clarksburg, drive around to see what is currently being built.

This is the description of the above developments, according to The Washington Post (quoted sections are from W.Post, 6/19/2004, p. F9):

  1. "Clarksburg Town Center, Newland Communities; eight builders. 208 acres. Mixed-use development of about 1,300 units, including single-family houses, townhouses, and condos; plus 116,000 square feet of commercial/retail space, with grocery, civic building and community center; and an elementary school. Sales began in 2001."

    Miller & Smith - single family
    Craftstar - townhomes
    NVHomes - townhomes
    Miller & Smith - townhomes
    Bozzuto Homes - condos (3 & 4 story buildings)

    Features (some not built yet): 2 pools, park with tennis courts, tot lots, pond, Giant grocery, restaurants & retail, office space, daycare, elementary school, library.
  2. "Clarksburg Ridge, Natelli Communities. 34 acres. 101 single-family units and 58 townhouses. Sales began in August 2003."

    near this section include: NV Homes, Ryan Homes, Churchill Builders, & Miller & Smith.
  3. "Highlands at Clarksburg, Centex Homes. 67 acres. Residential development of 204 single-family houses, townhouses, duplexes and condos. Second phase is for sale. Land development of third and final phase of 40 units starts in July [of 2004]."

    Notes:
    This section includes retail/office space.

  4. "Arora Hills, Clarksburg Skylark LLC. Builders are Beazer Homes, Ryan Homes and Rocky Gorge Homes. 374 acres. Residential development of about 1,330 single-family houses, townhouses and condos. Sales began in July 2003."

    Notes:
    According to the developer, Arora Hills includes playing fields, two neighborhood swimming pools, the adjacent 290-acre Ovid Hazen Wells park, a planned middle school, and shopping center.

  5. "Clarksburg Village, Elm Street Development. Five builders. 774 acres. Residential development of about 2,663 units. Plans include 1,145 single-family houses, 997 townhouses, 516 condos and apartments, and a 17-acre retail site. Still in development; sales set to start this summer. [2004]"
  6. "Hurley Ridge, Toll Brothers. In 1994, the developer won approval to build 130 single-family homes on 53 acres. Now, Toll Brothers is building The Glen at Hurley Ridge, 109 single-family houses; and The Meadows at Hurley Ridge, 219 townhouses on 126 acres across Black Hill Regional Park from its earlier project. Now for sale."
  7. "Summerfield Crossing, Pulte Homes. 209 acres. Residential development with 259 lots, including 144 single-family houses and 142 townhouses. Sales will start in September [2004]."
  8. "Gateway Commons, U.S. Homes. 45 acres. 292 units includeing 27 single-family units, 177 townhouse condos and 88 multi-family condos. Sales could start this year [2004]."
  9. "Cabin Branch, Winchester Homes. May have multiple builders. 535 acres. Mixed-use development of 1,886 units, includeing 793 single-family detached houses, 654 townhouses, 439 multi-family units; 500 senior housing units; and 2.4 million square feet of retail and commercial space. Groundbreaking set for late 2005 or early 2006."
  10. "Linthicum West, Charles Linthicum is the owner. 165 acres. Originally proposed for 253 housing units, but planning application was withdrawn. Still used as farm land [as of 2004]."
